Verkhovna Rada speaker Stefanchuk addresses Saeima

Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, thanked Latvia for its significant support in a  special video address to Latvia's parliament, the Saeima, on April 7.

Stefanchuk praised Latvia for the decisions taken to ban the symbols of Russian aggression, as well as support for bringing Russia to justice in international institutions.

The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada also praised Latvia's solidarity in supporting Ukraine being granted the status of an EU candidate country, support for the instroduction of a no-fly zone over Ukraine, as well as renaming the street where the Russian Embassy is located "Ukrainian independence street".

Stefanchuk also expressed gratitude for the delivery of weapons, ammunition and other cargo to Ukraine and Latvia's efforts to strengthen sanctions against the Russian Federation.

"Only together can we defeat the enemy. We are together, we are in solidarity. The truth is on our side. Glory to Ukraine, glory to Latvia," Stefanchuk said.

As previously reported by LSM, Saeima speaker Ināra Mūrniece was recently in Ukraine and paid a visit to Stefanchuk at the Ukrainian parliament in Kyiv alongside colleagues from Estonia and Lithuania.
