Alert over youth street fights in Imanta

An alarm was announced Sunday in the State Police's Rīga Pārdaugava administration and the Riga Special Task Battalion Unit, which means that all possible forces were called in response to possible physical clashes following a fight among minors in Imanta on May 5.

The State Police indicated that on Sunday evening the police recorded and received information from residents about a number of locations in the Imanta suburb in Rīga, where mass gatherings and physical clashes of young people are planned or are already taking place. Earlier in the day, a video circulated social media where several boys attack another boy and beat him up. A police service check has been started in the case due to law enforcement's failure to show up in a timely manner.

The State Police's Rīga Pardaugava administration and the Riga Special Task Battalion Unit were notified with an alarm, which means that all available forces were summoned. An operational management center was also established, from which the situation was coordinated.

In addition to the State Police reaction, the Riga Municipal Police are currently reinforcing patrolling and paying attention to groups, gatherings, or any other suspicious activity in Imanta.

During the night, the alert was lifted. At 2 AM the police said that two minor persons initiating gatherings had been detained.
