While carrying out their duties, border guards stopped an Audi A4 Avant driven by a Ukrainian citizen in Krāslava municipality.
During a document check, it was found that five persons of Asian origin were in the car without travel documents, valid visas and residence permits.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the Ukrainian citizen for knowingly providing a person with an opportunity to stay illegally in the Republic of Latvia if such an opportunity is provided to two or more persons.
The above-mentioned acts are punishable by up to six years' imprisonment.
