The suspect had sent the items to buyers using parcel services, thereby endangering the health and life of the surrounding population in particular, the police said.
The man had previously come to the attention of the police.
On July 17, State Police officers arrived at the man's addresses in Rīga, in the Teika and Purvciems neighborhoods. There they found and seized 33 pieces of essential components of firearms, 150 pieces of parts of explosive devices, one signal pistol, 72 shells with possible powder residues, and 8 detonators.
An expert examination has been ordered on the seized items.
In connection with the incident, criminal proceedings have been initiated under Article 233(2) of the Criminal Law - for alleged unauthorized acquisition, possession, transport and sale of firearms, essential components of firearms, firearms ammunition, and explosives without a relevant permit.
For such offenses, the law provides for imprisonment of up to 3 years or temporary imprisonment, or probation supervision, or community service, or a fine.
