In October this year, the State Police, in cooperation with the Customs Board of the State Revenue Service, carried out a large-scale operation during which three persons were detained on suspicion of trafficking in narcotic drugs. During the operation, an illegal synthetic drugs production facility was discovered in Ogre municipality, and at least 53 kilograms of amphetamine, as well as other equipment and chemicals necessary for the production of narcotic drugs, were seized.
According to expert estimates, the market value of the seized amphetamine exceeds one million euros.
Three men, one born in 1997 and two born in 1987, have been detained. One of the men, born in 1987, who has previously been in police custody, is a suspect in this case.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the unauthorized possession of narcotic drugs for the purpose of sale in large quantities (Article 253.1(3) of the Criminal Law). The offense is punishable by imprisonment for five to 15 years, with or without confiscation of property, and probation supervision for up to three years.
The criminal investigation is ongoing.
