On December 11, at 21:35, the State Police received a call to an apartment in Rīga where a man had locked himself in with his child and did not let his wife in. The information was confirmed upon arrival at the scene.
Since the man did not react to the knocking of police officers for a long time, it was decided to tear down the door of the apartment. As they entered the apartment, police officers saw a child without signs of life, as well as the father of the child with several stab wounds and lacerations.
At that time, emergency medical officers had already arrived at the site of the event, pronouncing the child dead. The father was taken to a hospital where he was given the necessary medical treatment.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated following the Criminal Law for murder in aggravating circumstances, namely where a person has been murdered in a helpless state.
