Bordāns said that there is a lot of evidence of war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine. He said more than 10,000 criminal cases have been initiated, and 10,000 war crime facts have been mentioned.
The Ukrainian side sees the need to set up a special war tribunal with many countries' participation so they can come to an internationally recognized outcome, Bordāns said.
"The Ukrainians have asked us to help with criminal experts who could come onsite and do everything necessary to record criminal offenses here on the ground. Ukraine certainly has experts, but with such a large number of war crimes [they] need help," Bordāns said.
He said, for example, France has already sent out its team of experts. He also said that there was much to be done in Latvia, like testing evidence or DNA testing, but it was important to provide people who could also work in Ukraine.
