Security Police gets 84 alerts on possible voting fraud

The Security Police has received a total of 84 alerts on alleged voting fraud but not criminal action has been taken as yet, LETA was told at the Security Police.

The Security Police has also received one application on an alleged violation of the election process.

None of the signals that have been checked so far have confirmed attempts to influence voters. Probing of several alleged cases of voting fraud also failed to reveal any illegal activity. The possible irregularities have been reported to the respective local election authorities and the Central Election Commission.

The Security Police continues to receive information about alleged violations of election rules also after last week’s general elections.

Unlike in previous elections, complaints about this year’s elections mostly concern violations of the election process. A total of 28 alerts have been received about illegal attempts to influence voters, including vote buying cases, and two signals have been received about faking election results. Altogether, 54 signals have been received about possible violations of election process.

As reported, according to the preliminary election results, Harmony party has won 23 seats in the 13th Saeima, KPV LV and the New Conservative Party will have sixteen MPs each, For Development/For and National Alliance - thirteen MPs each, Greens/Farmers - eleven, and New Unity - eight MPs.
