NATO Multinational Brigade undergoes first drills at Ādaži base

The Canadian-led NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia has undergone its first military exercise "Resolute Warrior". Allied forces train together and hone their ability to communicate swiftly, even if they speak different languages, Latvian Television reported November 13.

Resolute Warrior involves 3,500 soldiers from 13 countries, each bringing their best equipment. This is the first exercise for the newly established Canadian-led NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia. As the Brigade Commander states, the strengthening of communication capabilities has played a crucial role.

"It was necessary to be able to talk to each other, as 13 countries took part in this exercise. We want to make sure that we have all the communication capabilities. We wanted to make sure that we are a NATO standard brigade with a NATO planning process and NATO orders," said Commander of NATO Multinational Brigade Latvia Cédric Aspirault.

Logistics capabilities are also in focus this time. These units are not only responsible for weapons but also for water, food and fuel.

"That's why we spread the brigade out as much as possible here in Latvia to ensure that the logistics hub is further away from the base. But everything that had to do with maneuvers is done at the base," says Aspirault.
