Latvian mil-tech company gets European Commission funding

Origin Robotics, a Latvian military technology company, has received the European Commission's approval for €4.5 million from the European Defense Fund to develop an unmanned technology-based targeting capability, significantly expanding the use of precision-guided munitions, the Latvian Ministry of Defense said in a press release.

"The drone coalition and now this assessment by the European Commission is a strong signal that the chosen strategy to become a European leader in unmanned technologies was a far-sighted step and is already generating additional revenues for the Latvian economy," Agris Ķipurs, CEO of Origin Robotics, said in the statement.

Origin Robotics, the project's lead partner, is a Latvian military technology company specializing in the development of autonomous unmanned systems. Partners from Lithuania and Germany are also involved in the project.

In addition to the European Commission, the project is supported by the Ministry of Defense, the German Bundeswehr and the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.

The Ministry of Defense encourages businesses to continue to engage and make even more active use of the opportunities offered by the European Defence Fund in order to promote the overall development of the defense industry and enhance the competitiveness of companies.
