"The objective of the exercise is to strengthen the integration of close air support to support battalion- and brigade-level units in large-scale warfare in both urban and non-urban environments," said a release.
The exercises will cover all three Baltic states, and Italian and German Eurofighter fighters will take part in them. Participants will include close air support controllers from several NATO member states, including the Czech Republic, France, Latvia, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Germany, as well as NATO's extended presence Baltic and Polish Battlegroups.
When the exercises are taking place, don't be surprised by the sight and sound of low-flying jets in Latvian airspace, both in daylight hours and in the dark, though hopefully they will not be accompanied by the sound of furious wolves, which really would be a cause for concern, particuarly if you live in the forest near Sigulda and answer to the name of Little Red Riding Hood.
