Border Watch: Three Russian navy ships noted

While celebrationss and formal parades were happening on land May 4, Latvia's maritime vigilance showed no let up with a fresh batch of Russian naval vessels noted.

National  Armed Forces reported that three ships had been sighted 5.5 nautical miles (10 km) from Latvia's sea border, within Latvia's exclusive economic zone, specifically three different types of corvette: a Nanuchka missile corvette, a Tarantul-class corvette and a ship of the Buyan-M class.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the ships were en route to Saint Petersburg to participate in Victory Day celebrations on May 9.
