A booklet designed to tell Latvian residents what to do in case of an emergency crisis situation such as a major natural disaster or invasion has also been printed in Braille, the Ministry of Defense said October 28.

The Ministry of Defense, in co-operation with the Latvian Society for the Blind, has produced the booklet “What to do in case of a crisis” in both Braille and large print for the visually impaired.

The booklet “What to do in case of a crisis” is published in Braille in 135 copies, in enlarged print in Latvian (428 copies) and in enlarged print in Russian (200 copies).

Copies of the booklet published in Braille and large print will be distributed by the Latvian Society for the Blind at its various facilities across the country

As previously reported by LSM, since June 3, the booklet "What to do in case of a crisis" has been available electronically on the defense industry news portal "Sargs.lv" www.sargs.lv/lv/tema/72stundas

The aim of the booklet is to provide practical knowledge to every inhabitant of Latvia on how to improve their and their relatives' preparedness for crisis situations. The booklet provides advice, for example, on how to put together an emergency bag, what foods and medicines to have at home and how to identify the responsible public services that will evacuate, provide medical assistance and respond to public order incidents in the event of a crisis.
