Starting from Friday October 28, exercises will be held at the Ādaži military training ground near Rīga for a week, during which allied helicopters will perform a variety of exercises, including firing their weapons during attack runs.

The commander of the National Armed Forces (NBS) Air Force, Colonel Viesturs Masulis, said local residents should expect some increased noise as a result: "They will fly on the route from Lielvārde air base to the Ādaži training ground. Of course, the helicopters will fly at higher altitudes above populated areas, but closer to the training ground, they will be lower.

Combat firing over Ādaži is planned both during the day and at night, Masulis said, appealing for understanding from the public for the exercises which are necessary for air crews to maintain necessary levels of certification.
