Latvian retail chains hit by international cyberattack

Take note – story published 6 years ago

The global ransomware Petya has affected several Latvian retail chains, say cyber security guardians at Cert.lv.

Several mid-sized retail chains had been affected by the ransomware, deputy head of Cert.lv Varis Teivāns told Latvian Television on June 28.

He did not reveal the companies' names.

This makes Latvia another location affected by the global attack that has affected Ukrainian institutions and has hit companies and individuals in Ukraine and Russia particularly hard.

ERR News reports that in neighboring Estonia the stores of home improvement store Ehituse ABC have been closed on Wednesday until systems affected by the attack are brought back online.
