Defense Minister Artis Pabriks told LETA that President Egils Levits has been thoroughly informed about the situation within the National Armed Forces (NAF), the development plans of the armed forces, as well as potential military threats facing the country at a Military Council meeting.
The meeting, which was attended by the leadership of the NAF and the Defense Ministry, lasted about three hours, during which the president ''expressed considerable interest and asked many questions'', Pabriks said.
The minister said that the meeting was a positive one between the NAF and the new commander of the armed forces.
