Low-altitude allied flight above Rīga and Kurzeme Monday

Take note – story published 1 year ago

On Monday, February 27, in the afternoon, an aircraft flight of allied countries will take place over the Rīga and Kurzeme region, the National Armed Forces (NBS) said.

The NBS asks the public not to worry about the flight and to treat it with understanding.

The exact timing of the expected aircraft overflight was not mentioned.

NBS has previously indicated that military aircraft flights in Latvian airspace take place at the height and speed specified in regulatory enactments. Consequently, the noise generated is temporary and does not harm humans and property.

Both last year and in previous years, the noise generated by NATO planes, moving to supersonic speed, had alarmed people so NBS now warns the public ahead of time.
