In Riga, Daugavgrīva military base, combat training with increased noise levels will continue until Friday, resume next Monday and go on until next Thursday, National Armed Forces Sergeant Jānis Miķis told Latvian Radio November 2.

Training goes on until midnight every day.

Miķis asked the public to keep a distance from the base.

"These are shooting noises that soldiers [create] by shooting with their individual guns, conducting combat-readiness maintenance exercises. Residents need to know that they are absolutely safe and soldiers develop their combat readiness skills in order to be able to defend any resident of Latvia.

"These shooting noises do not threaten the residents of Daugavgrīva in any way [..]," Miķis said.
