Deforestation has been carried out in around 70% of the whole border area.
In the framework of the contracts, an infrastructure of 149.7 km is planned at the border, of which a total of approximately 82 km must be deforested. Four bridges are currently constructed across rivers. It is also planned to build six towers, patrol roads, walkways, and other necessary infrastructure.
The construction of infrastructure on the Latvian–Belarusian border is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2024 and the construction of the fence by the end of February 2024.
Meanwhile our colleagues at LRT in Vilnius report that construction of a 500-kilometer border fence between Lithuania and Belarus has just been completed.
