There will be discussions on a wide range of topics over two days on October 21-22. Inevitably the increasingly deranged actions and intentions of Russia are even more of a focus than usual, but other subjects up for discussion include Canada's role as an energy supplier, the role of women in conflicts, and the future of the EU's Eastern Partnership program.
Among the speakers will be Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis, who is featured in the video clip above speaking over a thumping, upbeat backing track while displaying an impressive 'academic cradle' hand gesture.
Since 2006, the conference has become Latvia's main annual security and foreign policy showcase. As usual, the venue will be the Latvian National Library, with hospitality and entertainment provided for attendees in Rīga's Old Town.
