The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) has announced that on Friday, December 17, it will test its sirens and alarms between 10:00 and 10:20 in the morning.

There are 164 sirens installed throughout Latvia that can be heard within a 1.5-kilometer radius.

They will be switched on throughout the country in the morning between 10:00 and 10:20 for three minutes for a test run. Residents are asked not to worry.

The alarms serve the purpose of warning residents about a nature or technogenic disaster in case one occurs.
