LETA was told at the Defense Ministry, that it's planned that the servicemen of this rotation will stay in Latvia until mid-September. US troops will train alongside soldiers of the Latvian National Armed Forces and take part in multinational military exercises.
The first units of military equipment of this rotation arrived in Latvia by rail on Wednesday, June 29.
After unloading, the nine Abrams tanks, five Bradley armored fighting vehicles, Humvees and trucks, as well as other equipment were taken to a military base in Ādaži outside Riga. The remaining equipment is expected to arrive in Latvia in early July.
Following the annexation of Crimea by Russia and Russia's aggression in eastern Ukraine, the US launched Operation Atlantic Resolve to demonstrate its continued commitment to the collective security of NATO and dedication to the enduring peace and stability in the Baltic states and Poland.
