Riga Technical University (RTU) and the University of Latvia (LU) share the 1001st-1200th places in the ranking. Meanwhile, the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) and Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) are ranked below 1501st. These positions were also taken by the Latvian universities a year earlier.
RSU and RTU scored the highest in the "International Outlook" category, with 65.4 and 63.3 points respectively. With 54 points, the highest scores were awarded to LU in the category of industry income and patents.
Although all four Latvian universities scored less than 50 points in the research quality category, their performance improved. The highest score in this category was achieved by LU with 45 points, an increase of 4.7 points. RSU also improved its performance by 4.7 points, scoring 31 points this year. RTU improved by 0.9 points, scoring 32.9 points. Meanwhile, LBTU scored 16.6 points, which is 0.8 points more than last year.
Of the institutions assessed, Latvia ranks 64th in the world and 26th in Europe.
In total, 2092 universities have been ranked this year. Oxford University is the highest-ranked university overall, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology in second place and Harvard University in third place.
