The new environmental education center will be a dynamic learning space open to all zoo visitors.
Rebecca Šķērstiņa, Head of Scientific Activities at the National Zoo of Riga, explains that the newly created rooms are easily transformable and can be used for group work as well as for individual visitors. Information is mainly available in Latvian and English, but there are also interactive screens in Lithuanian and Estonian.
Three classrooms and an exhibition hall can be set up for learning, with exhibitions that will change every year, so that you can learn about the latest developments in environmental protection. The classrooms and the exhibition hall can be combined in a large seminar room, where workshops, small conferences and various public events can be organized. Part of the house is a new working space for the Education and Science Department of the zoo.
Hidden from the watchful eyes of visitors, the rooms are also home to a variety of species - with four or hundreds of legs or without them.
In its free time, the building is open to all visitors, inviting them to see the new animal habitats and learn more in the interactive exhibitions.
