Until now, 18 Rīga municipal educational institutions have confirmed that at least 80% of teachers have been vaccinated, Rīga Mayor Mārtiņš Staķis told Latvian Radio August 27.

The mayor is convinced that by mid-September there will be more of these schools.

"Overall, all 277 Riga municipal education institutions are prepared for new challenges, I would rather say so. We are prepared to provide a high-quality and reliable learning process onsite. There have been no serious problems with the delivery of Covid-19 tests to pupils.

"The teachers themselves have been vaccinated. Currently, 80% of the total vaccination has been submitted to us by 18 schools, but many more schools have personally confirmed to me that they will also reach the 80% level set, they are currently very busy testing children, and there is still time – 20 days to present all the documents," said Riga Mayor.
