Examinations for 9th-graders scrapped this year

Take note – story published 3 years ago

The government on April 30 approved the Education and Science Ministry's proposal that school leaving examinations for 9th-grade students should not be held this year.

Meanwhile 12th-graders will have to take their exams.

State examinations for 9th-graders will be cancelled this year, except for the state language examinations for those minority school students who want to take the exams.

Examinations for 12th-graders will be held from June 2 to July 30. They will have to take a foreign language exam, an exam in Latvian and a mathematics exam. Those students who need to take one or two more exams in other subjects in order to enroll in a university will also be able to do so.

If the state of emergency is extended past May 12, other examinations will also be postponed.
