Most of the school network reorganization process will be completed in the second half of this year. Seven reorganization processes are related to the change of the level of the educational institution, three reorganization processes will merge educational institutions, and five processes will end with the liquidation of the school.
The list of schools to be reorganized and closed in 2021 is not yet complete, as local governments still continue to submit their decisions on the arrangement of the school network to the ministry. For example, the lists of the Ministry of Education and Science do not include the plans of the Riga City Council to arrange the school network in the capital, where it is planned to reorganize ten schools and close three educational institutions.
Municipalities must inform the ministry of the decision to close, reorganize or establish an educational institution six months before it actually takes place.
