President Egils Levits had a message for pupils, students and teachers on the first day of the new school year, the so-called "Knowledge Day". Levits wished strength to the teachers:
"The main goal of education in Latvia is to build a state governed by knowledge, wisdom and virtue, where citizens live in democracy and prosperity. I wish that you hold this goal high despite short-term difficulties. To all of you, honorable teachers and professors, I wish endurance and tolerance!"
To students and pupils, he said:
"Though the new school year begins with caution in the health aspect, I encourage you to focus your strength on the most important thing. That is, in any and all conditions, obtain knowledge, develop talents, grow into versatile and able Latvian citizens."
Skolas, augstskolas un universitātes visos laikos izstaro zinību gaismu.

Novēlu ikvienam, kura dzīvē izglītības joma aizņemt kaut visnelielāko sirds stūrīti– sākt mācību gadu ar optimistisku skatījumu, ka visiem kopā mums izdosies saglabāt drošas un atvērtas skolas.
