So far, just two educational establishments have applied for government funding allocated to establishments where at least 80% of staff has a Covid-19 certificate, Rīga City Council said August 9.

As reported previously by LSM, Rīga council will provide financial support to the general education establishments of the Riga City municipality where the number of persons vaccinated against Covid-19 or having overcome the disease will be at least 80% of all employees of the institution.

Riga Ziedoņdārzs preschool and Riga Secondary School No. 93 have applied for the bonus.

The City Council forecasts that more applications will be received by the local government at the beginning of the new school year when the employees of the establishments will return from summer vacations.

In total, 282 educational establishments – schools, nursery schools, music, arts, sports schools, as well as educational centers for children and young people – are subordinate to Rīga municipality.
