From June 17-19, the CodeX international hackathon in Riga will bring together developers from 20 countries to take their aim at some of today's cutting-edge technology challenges.

The event, which will be held in a hybrid format, will host more than 200 participants onsite at Riga Technical University and many more online.

The largest onsite hackathon in the region since before the pandemic, CodeX teams will compete to tackle seven areas ranging from crypto bots to 3D technologies. Each of the seven challenges will offer mentors and
prizes, including cash, and the winning team will receive 5 000 euros with no strings attached.

Among other prizes on offer Latvijas Pasts, the national postal service provider for Latvia, will open up their current logistics process internally at sorting centers and warehouses as well as in mail and parcel deliveries around Latvia and and offer a 2,000 euro prize for improving postal services.

Similarly Rīga City Council is partnering with AR/VR headset producer Lightspace looking for innovative software solutions that would allow the use of AR/VR technology in the learning process at schools in Riga, and will also offer a 2,000 euro prize for the best idea.

For those participants who have just started to learn code and are unsure about competing with seasoned
developers, the hackathon offers a low-code track (or no-code at all). Hosted by community partners
RigaTech Girls, an organization devoted to promoting technology skills, they will host a beginner
challenge for the most original Discord bot, a bot that will make use of the communication platform
easier.

Applications to the hackathon are still open with the last few onsite spots available. The organizing team
invites participants not only from Latvia but also from all across Europe to apply – the hackathon will take
place simultaneously both virtually and physically in Rīga and will be held in English.
