Relatively few applicants at Latvian universities this year

This year, 10,144 potential students have applied for studies in one of the 12 Latvian universities, which is the smallest number in the last three years, according to information in the joint portal Latvija.lv on Monday, July 19.

The data on Latvija.lv show that 10 296 applications were received for 2020/2021 and 10,182 applications were received for 2021/2022.

9,410 of the applicants have already been approved for studies. Of these, the largest number of 4433 people are at the University of Latvia, followed by Rīga Technical University (RTU) and Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LLU).

The most popular study programme is the LU “Psychology” programme, which received 472 applications.

Following are the LU study program “Medical care” - 433 applicants, LU program “Computer science” - 375 applicants, RTU program “Computer systems” - 353 applicants, LU program “Law Science” - 338 applicants.

Among the less popular study programs are RTU “Information Technology” - 258 applicants, LU “Business Management” program - 232 applicants, LU “Communication Science” program - 228, RTU “Architecture” - 197, LU “English Studies, European Languages and Business Studies” program - 168 people.

Other study programs have an even smaller number of applications.
