More than 864 thousand euros have been invested. The new study premises will allow students and residents to acquire a broad spectrum of medical skills in the closest-to-life possible conditions. The newly created surgery complex will contain an operating room, as well as rooms where prospective doctors will be able to learn surgical and laparoscopic skills and others.
The head of the Medical Educational Technology Center Ieva Šlēziņa said: “This will be a simulated and safe learning environment where prospective specialists, surgeons, surgical nurses, and anesthesiologists will learn the skills needed to work. The operation complex has several skills-learning spaces. And these skills include simple surgical hand washing, sterile gloving, stitching, meshing, wound care, and sophisticated laparoscopic surgical skills with simulators."
