To ensure forest fire surveillance and prevention, a forest fire safety period is declared during the summer period, imposing prohibitions and restrictions on all residents. Failure to comply with the rules may result in administrative, civil, and criminal penalties.
It is forbidden to:
- drop burning or smoldering matches, cigarette butts or other objects;
- build fires, except in designated areas;
- leave bonfires unattended;
- burn rubbish;
- drive motor vehicles in woods and swamps off roads;
- do any other activity likely to cause fire.
Forest loggers must also remember that during the fire danger period, they may only burn logging residues in the forest with the written permission of the State Forest Service forester on each occasion.
17 forest fires have already been registered this year, with a total burnt area of 5.7 hectares, of which 1.97 hectares are forest land. In 2023, forest fires were extinguished 653 times, covering a total area of 637 hectares.
