Take note – story published 1 year ago

Due to pollution, Rīga municipality does not recommend bathing in Jugla Lake, the municipality said on July 11.

Riga City Council Housing and Environment Department carries out monthly monitoring of the quality of water at the favorite bathing sites – near Tadenavas Street, the viewing platforms of Bonaventuras Street, Lejasciema Street and Braila Street.

In all four places where water samples were taken in Lake Jugla last week, a high level of water pollution has been detected, so the municipality warns residents not to swim in this body of water.

Meanwhile, swimming is prohibited at the official Daugava bathing area Rumbula as the analysis has shown that the microbiological characteristics of the water do not comply with the hygiene requirements.

Repeated water samples have been taken and the areas will be opened again after the results of appropriate tests have been received.
