Nature tourism sites to re-open in Latvia

Nature trails and observation towers managed by Nature Conservation Agency (NCA) will be available again to visitors starting this weekend, said representative Maija Rēna on May 14.

In view of the Minister Cabinet's decision to gradually lift assembly restrictions related to COVID-19, nature trails and observation decks and towers are to open in all regions from Saturday, May 16. On a number of routes, one-way direction will still have to be respected. There are still informative signs calling for a 2-meter distance, avoiding touching railings, and planning routes on less popular sites.

The NCA has in total created and maintained 748 nature tourism and infrastructure sites: trails, towers, decks, cycling routes, parking lots, information stands. Sites where national restrictions regarding COVID-19 were impossible to comply with were temporarily closed.

All current information on natural tourism sites, maintained not only by the NCA but also by local governments, can be found on NCA website and mobile app Dabas tūrisms (Natural tourism).
