Rīga Children's Hospital unveils new building

On Tuesday, October 1, the Children's Clinical University Hospital (BKUS) unveiled a new building, which will in the future house the emergency medical center and outpatient clinic, the hospital said in a release.

The Outpatient Health Center will be fully operational in most of the new building as of October 2.

The new building for the Outpatient Health Centrt, which covers more than 5000 m2, has a single reception area, 84 rooms for visits, procedures and examinations, a modern consultation room for doctors, as well as play and relaxation areas for patients.

The Emergency Medical Centre has spacious, epidemiologically safe premises of over 2500 m2, a separate entrance and two reception areas, allowing for the separation of patient flows. Specially equipped wards for patients with dangerous infections will ensure that these infections do not spread.

The Children's Hospital EMC will start working in its new premises on October 9.

The new building, with a total area of almost 8000 m2, is the largest new building constructed at the Children's Hospital this century. The project was designed by Mārtiņš Ošāns SIA "MARK arhitekti", the construction supervisor is SIA "P.M.G", the main contractor is SIA "Arčers".

The total project financing is EUR 28,419,800 (including VAT). The building is being constructed with financial support from the European Regional Development Fund (EUR 10,319,800 including VAT) and the European Union Recovery Fund (EUR 16,000,000 including VAT), as well as funding from the European Union Recovery Fund to equip the building (EUR 2,100,000 including VAT).

The outpatient building can be recognized by a large orange stag standing outside it, whereas the entrance to the emergency medical center has a blue crane.
