March for men's health to be held Saturday in Rīga

On Saturday, November 23, the men's health movement "Men's Test" is organizing a march for men's health starting at the Freedom Monument.

Men's self-care is "nothing extreme", said Ansis Klinstons, the head of the movement, in an interview with Latvian Television's "Morning Panorama" program.

The aim of the march is to remind men at least once a year that they can and should take responsibility for their own health. This year's march will start on Saturday, November 23, at 12:15 at the Freedom Monument. Any man of any age is welcome to come to the march.

"Taking care of yourself is not extreme. It is not something that only women can do a–- a stereotype that still exists in Latvia," said Klintons.

Andris Ābele, a urologist and andrologist, stressed that a man does not have to wait until he is 50 or 60 to start taking care of his health. It should be done much earlier - even at the age of 20, the doctor pointed out.

"Every step in maintaining health has a meaning - it is not just health checks, it is also taking care of your weight, food, exercise, mental health," the doctor stressed.

The "Men's Test" movement has developed a "Health Clock" on virutests.lv, which allows you to find out what health checks are recommended at a certain age.
