Of the newly-confirmed cases, 2,895 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 4,859 were fully vaccinated.
Out of 16,567 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 46.8% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population dipped for the eleventh day in a row from 6,476 Friday to 6252.8 Saturday, increasing confidence that the peak of the latest infection wave seems to have passed. Since the beginning of the pandemic 697,548 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

Unfortunately, 25 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All victims were aged 50 years or older. Seven of the dead were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,333.
Friday hospital data from the National Health Service show 1,202 patients being treated in hospitals (down on Thursday's figure of 1,223). 153 patients were admitted and 159 were discharged during the previous 24 hours. 59 patients were displaying serious symptoms.
