Among hospitalized patients with Covid-19, 41.5% have coronavirus as a secondary diagnosis and the primary reason for hospitalization is different, according to a report presented by the Health Ministry at the government meeting February 1.

On Monday, January 31, 899 Covid-19 patients were in hospitals, of which 526 people were primarily diagnosed in Covid-19. 373 patients had a different diagnosis and Covid-19 was only a side diagnosis. Thus, Covid-19 was the primary reason for hospitalization in 58.5% of cases; 41.5%, respectively, had a different reason.

Health Minister Daniels Pavļuts described the situation as relatively stable. There is a 52% load at intensive care units and a 78% load in Covid-19 departments. The Omicron strain has not yet spread among the elderly population, either, as there is no significant increase in hospitalization of people aged 60 to 80 years, according to Pavļuts.
