43 more Covid-related deaths, 1,821 new cases in Latvia

Another 1,821 new cases of Covid-19 infection were added to Latvia's tally November 5, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

Of that total, 1,272 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 549 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 228,681.

Of 25,814 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 7.1% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population dropped sharply from 1722.1 Thursday to 1652.8 Friday, raising tentative hopes that the current wave may have peaked.

Unfortunately 43 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All were aged 40 years or more. 39 of the victims were unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated while four were fully vaccinated.

The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 3,444.

Friday data show 1,539 patients being treated in hospital (down on 1,554 on Thursday) with 246 patients displaying serious symptoms (down on the record high 260 o Thursday).

Meanwhile in Estonia more than 1,400 cases and 7 deaths were recorded Friday and in Lithuania the figures were more than 3,100 cases and 22 deaths.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv/.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia.
