445 new Covid cases, 19 deaths Friday in Latvia

Another 445 new cases of Covid-19 infection were added to Latvia's total on November 19, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC). The relatively low number is explained by the fact that fewer tests were carried out on November 18 than usually on a Thursday, as it was a national holiday.

Of the 445 new cases, 318 cases were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 127 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 245,006.

Of the 3,217 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 13.8% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population dipped from 935.0 Thursday to 862.3 Friday.

Unfortunately, 19 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All of the victims were aged over 50 years. Two of the fatalities were fully vaccinated individuals. The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 3,920.

Thursday data show 1,084 patients being treated in hospital with 198 patients displaying serious symptoms.

Meanwhile in Estonia 447 new cases and 9 deaths were reported during the last 24 hours and in Lithuania the figures were over 1,700 cases and 17 deaths.
