In total, 1,758,412 antigen tests have been issued to Latvian schools, including 148 schools in Riga. The distribution of tests to other educational establishments will be coordinated by the Ministry of Education and Science, as well as the Ministry of Culture according to their affiliation.
The distribution of tests to regional schools will be provided by the municipal Civil Protection Commissions, whose responsible regional coordinators have today been delivered antigen tests by the National Defense Logistics and Procurement Center in co-operation with the National Armed Forces.
Currently, work is continuing on providing social care centers with antigen tests, which will be performed by the National Defense Logistics and Procurement Center in cooperation with the State Fire and Rescue Service.
It has already been reported that the Ministry of Defense and the National Armed Forces, together with the Ministry of Education and Science and the State Fire and Rescue Service, have developed a plan to supply antigen tests to educational institutions throughout Latvia by 17 December. Based on the number of pupils, the tests will be delivered to schools in sufficient quantities for the next four weeks. At the same time, tests will be distributed to all social care centers and other public institutions, but educational institutions will be provided as a matter of priority in the supply process.
The contract for the supply of Covid-19 virus (SARS-CoV-2) antigen self-tests with SIA Brief was at a price of 1.04 euros per test. The total contract value for the four million self-tests is € 4,160,000 excluding VAT.
