The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 139,941.
Of 8,135 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 1.6% were positive.
The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants rose from 57.9 Thursday to 60.3 Friday.

No additional Covid-related deaths were confirmed so the death toll since the start of the pandemic stays at 2,561.
There are currrently 64 patients being treated for Covid-related symptoms in Latvia's hospitals. Of that number 12 are displaying serious symptoms.
On August 12 a total of 2,432 patients received a first vaccine dose and 1,623 received a second dose. 714,272 people have now completed a course of vaccination.
Meanwhile, in Estonia 282 new Covid cases were registered Friday and in Lithuania 548 new cases were recorded.
Health Minister Daniels Pavļuts pointed out that Latvia currently has one of the lowest rates of infection in the European Union and urged people to continue coming forward for vaccination.

There is a Latvian language hotline 8989 which allows people to both register for vaccination and receive answers to questions about the process of vaccination.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv/.
Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme.
All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
