Covid case total rises by 41 Sunday in Latvia

Take note – story published 2 years ago

On Sunday, June 27, Latvia recorded 41 new cases of Covid-19 infection, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 137,210.

Of 7,924 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, just 0.5% were positive.

The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants continued its decline, from 64.9 Saturday to 62.3 Sunday, with the epidemiological risk now rated "moderate" and heading towards the next threshold of 20 cases per 100,000 of population which is rated "low risk" under Latvia's four stage color coded rating system, as shown in the graph at the bottom of this page ("Zems risks" means "low risk").

This should not be confused with the "low risk" threshold for visiting other countries, which is 75 cases per 100,000.

There were no more deaths from Covid-19 confirmed Sunday, so the death toll since the start of the pandemic remains on 2,503.
