Latvian PM wants to boost Covid-19 testing capacity

Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš wants to increase the testing capacity of Covid-19 and ensure comprehensive and regular testing of risk groups, said  the Prime Minister's press secretary Sandris Sabajevs February 8.

Kariņš said that “the Covid-19 pandemic will have a relatively long impact on society, and therefore it is necessary to increase Covid-19's testing capacity, and to ensure regular, comprehensive testing of risk groups” .

In order to fully identify the possibilities of Covid-19 testing in Latvia, Kariņš instructed the Ministry of Health to urgently submit information to the government regarding available and used Covid-19 testing capacity in Latvia.

The Prime Minister stated in his resolution that the prepared material should also include information on sampling and inspection capacity and planned capacity increases.

Karins has also asked the Ministry of Health to submit proposals for comprehensive and regular testing of risk groups in the near future.
