Data from the National Health Service on January 5 show that at least one dose of vaccine had been received by 72%, while 42.1% of those had received the first booster vaccine.
A total of 934 vaccination offices were registered on January 20, 2023 in medical establishments - regional and local authorities, university hospitals, and family doctors' practices.
The information report submitted by the Ministry of Health (HM) states that currently not only SARS-CoV-2 virus is spreading widely in Latvia, but also other causes of acute upper respiratory tract infections (AAEI) - influenza viruses, respiratory syncitial virus and others.
The results of sewage monitoring show that various SARS-Cov-2 options are currently distributed in Latvia, including XBB mutations. For example, the distribution of the type XBB (BA.2 .75) currently ranges from 1.7% in Tukums to 99.1% in Rēzekne, where the highest prevalence of this type in Latvia has been observed.
Overall, since the second half of October, there has been a gradual reduction in the reported cases, partly related to the reduction in testing volume. In the EU/EEA countries as a whole, the average figures showed a similar trend and the number of cases registered in January 2023 continues to decrease.
