Masks in public transport could be abandoned mid-May in Latvia

Take note – story published 1 year ago

The Ministry of Transport (SM) has developed amendments to the rules on epidemiological safety rules, providing for the abolition of mandatory masks in public transport as of May 15, LETA reported May 5.

The amendments are encouraged given that all other epidemiological safety measures have been removed with a reduction in the risk of Covid-19 spreading.

According to the letter from the Ministry of Health, there is no objection to these amendments.

The majority of Covid-19 restrictions in Latvia were lifted on April 1. The only requirement that remained in force is wearing masks in public transport, medical facilities and long-term social care facilities.
