More than 20,000 vaccination slots available to the public in Latvia

Starting from Monday, May 3, every resident of Latvia over the age of 18 can choose the closest vaccination spot and most convenient time for an appointment at the manavakcina.lv portal, and currently there are more than 21,700 appointments available, Health Minister Daniels Pavļuts said May 3.

More and more appointment spots are being added, including in the large vaccination centers in order to ensure mass vaccination.

"More than 21,700 free vaccination appointment times are available to choose from. There will be more. Forward, towards normality!" said Pavļuts on Twitter.

He added that on Monday Latvia also took delivery of nearly 80,000 doses of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, the largest batch to arrive so far, which would be distributed to major vaccination centers, medical facilities and family doctors.

The invitation to make an appointment appeared to have been answered with the manavakcina.lv website reporting technical difficulties soon afterwards.

People who have arranged an appointment for vaccination are invited to arrive at their chosen vaccination spot not earlier than 10-15 minutes in advance in order to avoid lines.

To the present time 263,808 or 13.93 percent of the population in Latvia received a first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, but 52,991 people or 2.81 percent of the population have completed the vaccination process after receiving the second dose.
