More than 600 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Latvia

Latvia recorded 612 new cases of COVID-19 on December 1 according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC), bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 17,687.

The highest daily total remains the 898 cases recorded on November 26.

7,810 tests were carried out in the previous 24 hours of which 7.8% were positive, up on the 4.7% rate the previous day. 

Four deaths were also confirmed. One person was aged 45 to 50, two were aged 55 to 65, and one was aged 90 to 95.

So far 1,806 patients have recovered from infection and 210 have died.

The National Health Service (NVD) reported Tuesday that 519 people are being treated in hospital for symptoms of the coronavirus (down on 534 on Monday). 480 of that total display moderate symptoms, whereas 39 display serious symptoms. 

On December 1, Estonia reported 191 new cases of coronavirus and three deaths, while Lithuania reported 1,187 cases and 19 deaths.

On November 30, the 14-day cumulative number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 of population was 334.8 in Latvia, 950.8 in Lithuania and 333.3 in Estonia, according to data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control

All arrivals (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
