More than 800,000 people have got the first Covid jab in Latvia

As of Thursday, August 12, 802,602 people have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in Latvia, according to data compiled by the National Health Service (NVD).

On Wednesday, vaccination rates were still relatively low, with a total of 5,928 people being vaccinated. The first dose of the vaccine was received by 3,235 people, the second by 2,255, while another 438 people were vaccinated with a vaccine produced by Johnson & Johnson (J & J), which needed only one dose.

In the last week - between August 2 and 8 - 33,599 people received the vaccine in Latvia, with an average of 4,800 people per day.

Overall, the pace of vaccination in Latvia continues to fall, significantly behind the record levels reached in May, when more than 110,000 people were being vaccinated in a week. 

A total of 1,408,098 vaccine doses have been used in Latvia so far. 708,035 people have already completed their vaccination course, which means 42.52% of the population has at least one dose, while the vaccination process has been completed by 37.74% of the population.
